Settings/Locations

My settings for my music video is mainly a gig, therefore I filmed three times on three different stages. with shots at different angels of the band all being filmed on the main setting; a stage. The mise en scene for my music video is a live gig. Therefore I filmed the band Boots Book Lovers performing at a gig, in a club called: Stealth. Stealth is two different clubs in one place, Stealth and the other Rescue Rooms. This therefore made the place have many different rooms and stages. However my band were filming in 'Red Rooms' this room is one of the smallest, it has dancing floor, a bar, and a small stage. This stage shown in the picture above is where the band performed. This small stage highlights that they are a unsigned band preforming on a smaller stage, and they haven't quite made it to the top yet. (been signed)

In my video the prop of a sticker is shown on each band members trouser leg. It is only clearly visible on the main singers leg in my video. The sticker as a prop shows the audience that it is a gig the band are playing at because you have to have sticker to enter.

Process of editing

The process of editing was easy. I already learnt how to use the technologies used to make my music video during making my AS media it was a giant leap in new technology compared to GSCE. We were able to use more advanced software which were:

  • imovie (for the editing)
  • Garage band (for the making of the music)
  • The Camera ...
  • A tripod ( enabled me to use a variety of steady shots, although i didnt use many steady hand shots because i wanted to make the mise en scene of a gig, which a gig has a more rocky and hand held camera use to create realisum/the audience feel like their at the gig.

Props Used

I have used many props when filming my music video. I used the props of instruments such as drum kit, three bass guitars and a micro phone stand. These instruments fur fill the mise en scene of a music video.  I have also used 'marshall amplifier' which is for the guitars. I have also including many shots of

the speakers around the setting of
the stage to also fur fill the mise en scene of a live gig. The lead singer and guitarists all have a micro and microphone stand for the lead singer to sing all of the lyrics but also for the other members of the band to sing the chorus of the song 'Shoot me down again.' I have also included
a shot of a plastic cup of beer; this is to again show the element of the mise en scene of a live gig but also to highlight the quirky personality of the band and also relate to the young target audience.

Outline of my video

For the filming of my video for the band 'Boots book lovers' I am going to film them making the mise-en-scene seem like their at a gig. I am going to include a variety of shots of the audience at the gig to fulfill the mise-en-scene. Different types of shots and camera angels including long shots of the audience watching the gig whilst showing the band performing.

Possible Costumes

The costume's my band are going to wear is smart/casual. My band will follow the current style trends whilst looking smart but also casual. The costumes will attract the female gender by appealing to the women and also the target audience of young teenagers to late 20's. People will be able to recognise the current trends and take influences from the band members and respect them. There will be different costumes for each member of the band because I will be filming two or three different gigs where the band members will have different clothes on each time, this will show the popularity of the band being able to perform more than one gig, and show variety to their costumes.

These lyrics can be interpreted in two different ways. The first way being as a romance lyrics all about being regretted by a woman, being ‘shot down.’ In the setting of Nottingham, this being clear by the use of colloquial language being used throughout the songs.
Another way of interpreting the lyrics is by the band explaining and singing their lyrics about regretting the fashion style that is around at the moment, and trying to bring back the past regretting their childhood upbringing and lack of fashion awareness, trying to get people to stop copying fashion ‘parrot fashion’ and make their own mark on their own fashion statements. They use colloquial phrases to emphasize their setting of Nottingham but also to emphasize the fashion of Nottingham ‘penny loafers.’ Giving the message to the audience that they should make their fashion statements and honor the fashion of the past.

Take That Animatic

Here is an animatic video we produced in order to help us with the making of my music video. To produce this animatic video we worked in pairs within the class. We chose a song which we believed were similar to our target audience and of similar genre to our own band. In order to make this animatic we had to watch the original music video of The Take That song- Patience. We watched the video and wrote down a shot list of what shots were in the video, exploring the different camera angels and panning and tracking shots. Once we had wrote down our shot list we drew our own storyboards taking it in turns to draw each shot in each picture. Once we had completed our drawings we uploaded them to IMovie. Once uploaded we then went back to original music video by Take That and timed each of the shots in order to make our storyboard shots the exact same timing. Once we completed changing all of the storyboard shots timing. We then finally had completed our animatic.

By producing this animatic it helped us realise how important timing is in a music video, each point second that is out of place can change the whole outcome of the music video. Personally it helped me to reengage with IMovie and helped me towards making my own music video.
