In the end I changed my final video and rejected this rough cut, because I asked my audience for feedback answering the following open questions:

Couldn't Film

Here is a review from a gig from my band The Boots Book-Lovers' a gig they performed at and I went to watch. Unfortunately I wasn't aloud to film any footage for my music Video at this gig on 26/03/12 because we weren't aloud to take any pictures or videos. However the reviews the bands got from this gig were really good really positive on www.bodeganottingham.com/gigs

• This is a review from the gig I filmed the final footage of my filming from. It was on 2/3/12 in a local pub in Nottingham called: The Maze. Just above is the review they got from the Kerblammo. Stating that the gig which they performed and I filmed was very good, they 'impress with consistency.'

Filming Schedule

November 17th 2011:

• Tonight I am going to go and film the band at a live gig, a gig that will be performed in one of the night clubs in Nottingham city. A club called: Pandora’s Box. I am planning on filming as much as I can, with a variety of shot angels and positions, for examples, close ups and extreme close ups of the band members faces and expressions, to emphasize their emotions, and use those shots as shots to show the band lip sinking the lyrics of the song. I am also going to film a variety of shots of the instruments the band members are playing; these shots will show the instruments which will fur-fill the mise-en-scene of a live gig.
• HOW IT WENT: The filming for the first time went pretty dreadful. The club I filmed in was extremely dark, therefore I can’t see much as the footage I have filmed very well. At the time I thought the filming was going very well so I carried on filming the gig whilst the band played five different songs, one including the song I'm using; Shoot me down again. After trying to edit my footage using iMovie I realized I will definitely have to film again. The footage from my first filming attempt I have actually edited adjusting the brightness trying to make it brighter so I could actually see the footage. However it is still too dark, and the lip sinking of the main singer cannot be seen. Therefore I am planning to film again at one of their other gigs which I will have to find out when that is. The footage I have edited can be seen as one of my rough cuts. Until I am able to gig I will use to my time to edit my blogger.

January 10th 2012:

• Tonight I'm going to try and attempt to film again at another one of the bands live gigs. This gig is at another one of Nottingham's night clubs called: Stealth. Hopefully it will be bright. And this time I going to film more planned out shots which I need. I am going to film their five set songs which they are going to perform: HMS Wrong turn; Shoot me down again; Time has no sleep; Kitchen sink kitchen sunk. Using the footage from each of their songs, the footage being; close ups of the instruments being played and the way the band members move across the stage, I am going to use all of it in my editing and making of the music video. And of course using the actual song Shoot me down again I am going to try to steadily film the main lead singer, singing the song, so i can use the variety shots of the other songs, combined with the lip sinking of the main singer shots, to make my music video.
• HOW IT WENT: It went really well this time. I have been editing my footage for the past few days, and I am really pleased with the footage I have filmed. However on a negative note I still need to film so more footage, more footage being more shots of the instruments and close ups of the different band members, because at the moment my footage is mainly focused on the lead singer, which I don’t want I want the other members of the band to be portrayed and come across as well as the main singer. Which I plan to film on their next gig.

March 2nd 2012:

• Tonight I am going again to Boot's Book Lover's gig which is going to be in a different setting compared to the other two gigs I filmed. This time I am going to another place in Nottingham but the difference in it being a pub instead of night club. Hopefully this will make the stage a little brighter than before and I won’t have to adjust the brightness of the footage like I have done for the other two gigs I have filmed. I am going to film just like before and film all five songs.
• HOW IT WENT: It went even better this time. Third time lucky. From editing my footage I think I have got all the footage I need with a numerous variety of shots I wanted to film. Fingers crossed with all this footage of the gig, I think I will be able to complete my music video. And this time I took a camera with me and took lots of pictures, which I can maybe use in my music video, and which I can also use in writing my blog.

Anamitic Explained

Long shot of the whole band members. Showing their whole bodies and faces. And also the technique of the long shot being used to show the instruments used in the video: Drums, and three bass guitars. As well as three amps and a micro phone. The use of instruments being shown in the shot consists with the mise en scene of the video being a music video.

Medium shot of main leader. This is where using imovie and the editing technique i will use this shot to show the lip sinking of the lyrics to the song. This shot will be used repeatedly throughout my video. Medium shot's are the most used and most common shots in a music video's and my music video.

Back to the long shot of the band from a slightly side ways angel. Showing the use of variety of shots and angles I can use. This again shows the whole band, their expressions, lip sinking and the instruments they are using.

Then to a close up of the main singer, lip sinking and showing the micro phone prop he is singing into.

An extreme close up will then be used, without the prop of a micro phone , to let the audience see the whole face of the main singer. This will appeal to the audience by being able to view the main attraction of the main singer. He will again be lip sinking the main chorus 'shoot me down again.'

Here will be a medium shot in a different setting, of what will be portrayed as a pub/club. This will show the jokey side of the band and its members; having a good time, laughing and joking whilst drinking and hanging out. It will also appeal to the target audience and fans of the band. Because the bands target audience are young people ages 17-28. Young adults that will also go to the settings of pubs and clubs to drink and have fun. Therefore they can relate to this music video.

Then back to a close up shot of the main guy. Lip sinking again showing consistency of familiar shots and the lyrics to the song.

Then back to medium to long shots of the band members being shown individually one by one. With the props of drink and alcohol in their hand. Showing them having a good time.







Back to a medium shot of the main leader, lip sinking the lyrics. With an clear establishing shot of the microphone and stand, with the other instruments in the background relating to the mise en scene.

Then an extreme close up of the main leading again showing him lip sinking again.

Another jokey shot of the members of the audience drinking and having fun again

Back to a medium shot showing the whole band members again. I will use an effect on imovie to crop and zoom across the different members of the band, zooming into the instruments with variety of shots of extreme close ups, close up and medium shots, fulfilling the mise en scene of a live gig.

Long shot of one of members of the band showing his guitar fulfilling the mise en scene of a gig. I will again use the effects of imovie, zooming up and down the members body showing all the elements of the guitar.

Back to the medium shot of the lead singer with the prop of the micro phone and the setting of the stage. Lip sinking again, showing the lyrics to the song.

Long shot of all the guitar players in the jokey shots. Again with the props of alcohol fulfilling the expectations of a 'night out'

Back to the original shot of a medium shot of the whole band again. Showing consistency of shots, for the audience to relate to.

Back to the jokey shot of the three band members, using the quick effect of shot reverse shot. The effects i've used being shown in another post.

Then to a blurred close up of a shot of the lead singer, singing into the prop of a micro phone stand. The shot being blurred out, with the smoke effect of the live gig being used. Creating the mise en scene of a live gig, where a smoke effect being used all the time at live gigs.

Then to a medium shot of three members of the band panning across the stage showing the three instrument of two guitars and a drum set.

Back to a extreme close up of the lead singer, lip sinking the lyrics of the song. This conveys the singers emotions and a clear view of the lyrics which the audience will recognize.

Back to a medium shot of the members of the band being jokey and having fun. This will only be 4 seconds long, being very short just to show the jokiness of the band so the audience can relate to it.

Then back to a medium shot of the same two band members which were just shown in the previous shot playing their instruments/guitars. This is just like the shot before of a medium shot showing consistency and the way the two members can be jokey and serious. Showing their instruments and furfilling the mise en scene.







The music video will end with an medium shot of the lead singer lip sinking the end lyrics of the song, with the band instruments being played in the background. Then a tracking shot of the lead singer letting go of his microphone and walking off the stage.

How I Decided Where The Drums & Guitar Went

When listening to my music lyrics and trying to and edit produce my music video I found it hard were to decide which clip to put where, I initially gathered all my lip sinking of the lead sinking together and made the timing exactly right. I did this by changing the speed of clips and making them slower or faster to fit and match with the pre-recorded song I had placed onto IMovie. Then I decided to analysis my music lyrics a little bit more in depth, I did this by listening to the lyrics and deciding what instrument I could hear more in which part of the song. Once listening to my music I realised that the guitar was played all throughout the whole of the song, but stronger in some parts, that when I added guitar focused clips to my music video, I then did the same to the drum clips in the more drum played parts of the song, whilst also having clips of the singer singing the lyrics of the song, making a large variety of different shots this is how I decided what clip to put where. It made things a lot easier for me.
